Higher nationwide wages and/or a living wage can create a recession-proof economy..

by putting money in everyone's pocket.

It's why countries like Sweden, Norway, Finland etc don't feel the effects of global recessions.

Meanwhile the chest-thumping USA has nearly collapsed multiple times since the Great Depression, requiring massive government bail-outs to save capitalism from itself. It happened again in 2007-08. In 2020, Covid brought on a new kind of near-collapse. I still see vacant, boarded up businesses everywhere I look. Casualties of a global pandemic. Govt stimulus helped our nation survive by putting money in peoples pockets with unemployment benefits and stimulus checks. Vaccines will set us free.

Recessions happen when the poorest 90% of a population goes broke, from low wages to lay-offs.

Keeping 90% of our population poor has us wandering straight forward toward the next recession, the next housing collapse, the next banking crisis.

This cycle will only continue to repeat itself until we open our eyes and push our country to raise wages.

Living wages can act like a brick wall to the next incoming recession.

As long as humans have a need to eat, have a roof over our heads, need clothing, transportation, clean water, sewage and sanitation services etc, we will always have the basis of a strong economy

IF WE WOULD ONLY PAY OUR WORKERS A LIVING WAGE.

Its that fucking simple.

McDonald's Raises Pay for U.S. Restaurant Workers

McDonald’s Corp. said it would raise pay for employees at company-owned restaurants in the U.S., one of the latest companies to bolster wages and benefits as they struggle to hire workers.

The burger giant said Thursday it would increase wages for more than 36,500 hourly workers by an average of 10% over the next several months. Nonmanagerial workers at the chain’s roughly 660 company-owned restaurants in the U.S. would earn at least $11 to $17 an hour at entry levels after the increases, McDonald’s said. Supervisors would earn an hourly minimum of $15 to $20. Nonmanagerial employees at company-owned stores earlier this year earned an average of nearly $12 an hour, McDonald’s said, and supervisors earned some $16 to $18 an hour.

McDonald’s owns a fraction of its 13,900 U.S. restaurants, around 95% of which are operated by franchisees. Owners have said they are reviewing pay and benefits at their stores. The National Owners Association, a group representing U.S. franchisees, said in an email to its members on Sunday that strong sales should allow operators to raise menu prices if they choose to compensate for higher spending on pay and benefits.

A shortage of workers across the U.S. economy has prompted some employers to boost pay and benefits as they hunt for workers. McDonald’s, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc., Applebee’s, KFC and other chains have said they want to hire tens of thousands of workers in the coming months as they reopen dining rooms and seek to better staff their restaurants.

This mostly applies to company owned restaurants which only makes up about 5% of Mcdonald's with the other 95% being operated by franchisees.

I'm curious to see how franchisees will respond to this. If franchisees get on board it would be a big step in the right direction but I have my doubts that they will.

Still, one can hope.

Appoint a team of special prosecutors.

Does anyone doubt what a team of real prosecutors would unveil if they investigated Trump-Barr crimes?

Prosecute and imprison Trump, or we may well face him again in '24.

The demand for special prosecutors is far out-weighing the supply.
