It's easy being a "Populist" when you're rich

That needs to be on T-Shirts and bumper stickers

So let me get this straight

Humans have been around for at least 100,000 years.
We're supposed to be the smartest animal on earth.
For at least 99,900 years, yes years, we lived in relative harmony with planet Earth.

So it has taken humans all of 100 years, give or take a few, to do irreparable harm to this delicate petri dish we call home.

Think about that.

The Very Best Part of President Biden

Stepping aside is that one important fact hasn't changed.
The media smells blood in the water and the only one currently bleeding is Trump.
Maybe Piranhas have at that campaign.

Wow, Donald Trump an afterthought

Less than two weeks from an assassination attempt.
The media is forced to really explore our "new" candidate for POTUS. To not do so would be journalistic malpractice.
Trump must be fuming.

Let's celebrate an amazing president and

Coalesce around Kamala Harris. Were we really asking an 81 year old man who's career achievements rate second to none, including his open embrace of humility, empathy, love and understanding to do something as grueling as run for a second term?
Every living past president has made it clear that this job ages people at a rate far greater than any other job.
He gave us an amazing performance as president of these United States of America, far more amazing than any of us dared to hope.
He described himself as a bridge to a new generation, telling people close to him back in 2019 that he expected to serve a single term.
I'm thrilled he saved our democracy, I'm thrilled with all of the landmark legislation he was able to get supported through Congress, I'm thrilled he took meaningful executive action addressing issues Congress wouldn't touch and I'm thrilled he shared himself with us, the joys, the tragedies, his openness his compassion and his deep deep embrace and understanding of what's right and decent.
As surely as he learned many things from President Obama, (and taught of course), he was also able to learn from and teach our next president, Kamala Harris.
Let us find the multitude reasons to celebrate where we are today and do everything necessary to ensure our journey endures.
He and his team will ensure a seamless political transition to Vice President Kamala Harris and work his ass off to see her succeed.
We should all strive to do the same.

This is a break glass moment!

One of the advantages people like tfg have is that we keep believing that he will respect ANY rules or traditions.
I'm writing this because all the levers of power outside the Presidency will cease to have any value or strength to protect us from a trump presidency.
That's it, it's not open for negotiation, enforcement or any other feeble attempt to reign him in.
The Supreme Court said he's immune except in cases that 2-3 years after the fact, the Supremes decide that he's not.
I guess he'll honor their rulings because he respects them so much. NOT!
This is the only message that should be pounded into the skulls of the uninformed along with specific examples of which there are dozens to choose from where he has told us verbatim that he'll be dictator only on day one.
Of course one day is all he'll need.

"They tried to take me out"

I'm terrified that we are about to see his rhetoric escalate and as sure as I'm typing this with two fingers, there will be events that follow this and are inspired by the words in the title.
On a side note, listening to these supporters "shocked" by the violence, they just can't understand...... makes me want to vomit, and question if they are campaign staffers etc....sounds too much like a talking point.

No Drama Obama

Sound familiar?
Remember all the House and Senate candidates running as far and as fast as they could from Obama? Nate Silver wrote an article for the NY Times on Nov 3rd 2011 titled Is Obama Toast? Handicapping the 2012 election. Due to poor handling of the debt ceiling debacle and the following credit downgrade makes the economy vulnerable (paraphrasing).
There were periods of rough seas where his reelection prospects seemed in doubt.
All the chaos around Bidens debate performance, yet it feels like Biden is the calm center of the storm, just like Obama was.
I'm not drawing a direct comparison, just noting that maybe that same calm in the middle of the storm will serve Biden well.
For the record, I'm in the he should go boat but I'll absolutely vote for him when that opportunity comes. Kamala Harris is perfect for this moment with the issues in the spotlight.

My opening line at the debate tomorrow night

Thanks to blah blah blah etc.. and Donald, I sure hope you include me in your thanks giving, as my giving you an audience today is more generous to you than you meeting with What's His Name in North Korea was to him.

The Soul of a Tear (For My Snuggles)

The Soul of a Tear 6-10-24

I shed some tears again, just the other day,
I'm trying to share what they had to say.

The source was the loss, of my beautiful Snuggles,
in their full volume, they've created puddles.

Like a pond, ocean, or my favorite lake,
each drop carries memories, of joy or a bad mistake.

From the day we met, each brick in our bond,
all her uniqueness, made me grow more fond.

Each second of joy, every special event,
gave soul to each tear, no need to repent.

One day a year later, she went to a farm,
I missed her each day, praying you'd came to no harm.

Each time I'd come visit, she met me with joy,
so visibly happy, she was never coy.

Each day she was gone, somewhere deep in my heart,
I knew that some day, we'd no longer be apart.

Each day when I'd walk, I'd call her name to the air,
believing for sure, her soul would hear.

Like a prayer answered, I came one day in the car,
knowing that evermore, neither of us would again be far.

The next six months, daily, such joy I never knew,
Each day was a treasure, my adventure with you..

Each new moment treasured, until the fifth of May,
when I found you lifeless, in our driveway.

An ocean of tears, flowing unabated,
the bill came due, the price was fated.

So as I write this, for a cat held so dear,
our whole life together, held in the soul of each tear.

I love you Snuggles,
Your dad.

P.S.
Written at the blind encouragement of Kim, a member of the priesthood at the LDS church I've started to reconnect with after almost 40 years. Thank you.
