One of the people I most admire.

How she has carried herself in life is beyond impressive to me. I have vehemently disagreed with her often yet she has never budged from my most admired list.

I highly recommend her PodCast, You and Me Both. It's excellent. Uplifting and educational. Sometimes inspirational. From talking about fatherhood with Mike Birbiglia to voting rights and monopolies with Amy Klobuchar. Great interview with Mayor Aja Brown on the episode with Klobuchar, as well. All of the interviews are excellent.

You will not be disappointed.

I'm thankful for Hillary Clinton. I look up to Hillary Clinton.

Deficit Donald tapped into the far right.

Donald, along with a fairly new arm of the media, played at the far rights emotions, fomented anger and paranoia, and are continuing to do so. These are the loudest and most active groups on the right. Historically a thorn in the side of Republicans.

In what has shocked me, Biden is tapping into the “far left.” He is doing it by the words he is using and is following it up by actions. He is recognizing their emotions and elevating their issues. These are the most vocal and active on the left. Historically a thorn in the side of the party.

I’ve always recognized tapping into people’s negative emotions as a political winner. Republicans have been good at it but in the past it was directed at Christians. I’m not sure I’ve seen a Democratic President tap into the left like Biden is. It’s a message of hope backed by actions geared toward a pretty progressive platform.

What Biden is doing seems to be working, politically. We watch as the “far left” gets beat in primaries and we talk about how they are unelectable on a Presidential ticket. Now we have a President who I thought was going to be a centrist and consensus builder out there pushing a very progressive agenda. From what I’m hearing it’s not going unrecognized.

Keep it up, Biden.

What are your go-to news/opinion stops each day?

Most are probably like me and end up reading from a lot of different outlets each day. One of the great things about forums like this is that people share things from all over the place. We are directed toward these sources by others sharing them.

At the same time, most of us have our own stops we make each day. These can be news organizations or full on opinion outlets.

Mine:

CNN
NYT
Al Jazeera
Black Agenda Report
Tampa Bay Times

Of course I read from a much larger group of outlets. Those are simply the places I take myself to each day.

What are yours?

Thanks for playing.

No President in my lifetime has exceeded my expectations...

Until Biden.

Only one hundred days in.

What Police Impunity Looks Like

They came into his own home and took his life for no reason.

“As officers converged on the scene where Trawick lay lifeless, two of them told a sergeant that ‘nobody’ had been hurt. ‘Just a perp.’

We already know the case of former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd is an anomaly. Officers who kill civilians are rarely prosecuted, let alone convicted — many aren’t even disciplined by their departments.

To understand how police impunity works, it’s worth looking at another case, that of Kawaski Trawick.
