Across the Desk - S7:E10 (Rep. Jim Olsen & the Corporal Punishment of Disabled Children)

This week on Across the Desk, Kit Fairchild talks about the antics on the floor of the Oklahoma House of Representatives last week when Representative Jim Olsen debated against a bill to bar corporal punishment being used upon disabled children. And why does Jim think it's okay to violate the human rights of children? Well, because his religion says it's okay. And it doesn't matter if you share his religious views... You'll just have to live by them.. After all his 'God' is so much smarter than the 'so-called' educated, practiced, licensed and skilled 'experts'.... It's all about a part of the GOP that more about a 'Theocratic Republic' than a 'Democratic Republic... Oh yeah, and physically beating on disabled children who may not be able to understand why they are getting physically accosted...

S7:E9 (Lesson #1 of Conservative Cowardice & the Censure of Mauree Turner)

This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about the Censure of state Legislator, Mauree Turner (D), who identifies as black, Muslim, and non-binary using the pronouns They/Them. Well, they have been formally censured in the Oklahoma House of Representatives for 'harboring a fugitive', but there is so much more to the story that that.. And when you look at the antics of (R)s who have actually broken the law, two (R)s are looking at felony charges! And another who (Jay Stegall) was 'talked to' about threatening the Mayor of Yukon 3 years ago and using the power of his office to coerce the City Council. That was the extent of his 'censure'.. Which reeks of hypocrisy and power grabbing by an already power corrupted and power hungry GOP....

This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about all the ways the GOP are attacking public education, the books, the materials, marginalized kids, and especially teachers... From vitriol over DEI to bills that ban sex education, not even an opt out, or even an opt in!
