I am a candidate for Otero County Commission District 2. A committed Democrat registered at age 21. I was born in Flushing Queens, NY in September of 1945. I graduated high School in 1963. I was a "band kid", played the French horn, first chair. Played a Mozart Concerto solo at graduation. My first introduction to politics I was appointed by our grade advisor to act as the campaign manager for a student running for class President. I had to write and make a speech to the whole Senior class, it got me hooked. Served on the Long Island Township Board to upgrade the dog pound. I moved to Deming, NM in 1978 and joined the local Democratic Party and helped to form a watchdog committee: Luna County Citizens for Good Government. The group would monitor the Luna County Commission meetings. I am from a Union family, my father, a Union member and organizer, my mom and I both Union members. I organized a Labor Day breakfast as a fundraiser for the Democratic Party for about 15 years. I was County Chair representing the Democratic Party in Otero County twice and Vice-Chair once. I ran for and was elected as the Regional Vice-Chair for CD 2, about 19 counties served for 9 terms or 18 years. I presently serve as State Central Committee member (DPNM) I was the Manager of Deming Chamber of Commerce for 3 years and raised $9,000. I have emceed a political radio show in Alamogordo, NM for a number of years. I am a Certified Mediator for Magistrate Court with training from UNM School of Law. I served on an Educational Committee dealing with the Tobacco Settlement funding and advocating for a smoke free environment in public buildings. I testified before the Legislative Interim Committee for the Tobacco Settlement funding. I am President of an Historic School Restoration in Tularosa. I serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the Village of Tularosa. I am a member of LULAC I serve on the Board of a non-profit, non-denominational Church. I have some college credits in Inter personal Communication and Public speaking. I volunteered to pack food boxes for the food pantry. My passion is politics, I just love it. Every election is different. I hate injustice especially when it involves a child.
