The Salvation Army isn't merely against marriage equality. They also don't just want to discriminate against gays in charitable activities funded by their own money. They discriminate in the provision of charity even when such charity is funded by the government and lobby to overturn local non discrimination laws. They also lobby to gain exemptions from such laws while still receiving government money. That is the issue. If they don't want gays in their church, that is their right. It isn't their right to keep gays out of their government funded charities.
