...is the only positive from todays vote. CHIP would have passed regardless.
A clean DACA will now never survive the Senate and House (the GOP know they can dig in their heels and let it expire, and Trump can decide at his whim if he wants to enforce deportations). If Trump decides to play 100% to his base and begins mass deportations and the public outcry becomes too strong, the GOP will blame the enforcement solely on Trump and wash their hands of it. It will be up to the Democratic Party to remind the voters where individual Senators stood by their votes on DACA amendments (even when it does not pass). Good luck.
