(18,711 posts)He was and still is beloved in Providence. It was always this bizarre thing to me how this guy did such terrible crap and was still beloved. I think it was because of the things he did to help improve the city, and many folks were just willing to turn a blind eye.
I thought that he used a cigar instead of a cigarette on the guy, but youre probably correct. I do know it was in the basement of his restaurant on Federal Hill and a arranged by some of his bodyguards who were off duty police officers.
When he died, I saw people at work literally in tears over the news of his death. It was like the pope had died or something...in our house it was a gigantic meh and we were sadder that hed no longer be the spokesperson for our favorite maranara sauce, lol.
