I don't bother with that argument.

My intent is to denormalize guns just as smoking and drunk driving were denormalized.

This can start within families and communities and the law will follow.

"Honey, we love you, but it's us or the guns."

Gun fetishes are disgusting. Gun fetishists buy most of the guns, not hunters.

I haven't heard anyone bragging about their abilities as a drunk driver for a long time. I haven't seen anyone smoking in the grocery store for a long time.

All that good metal wasted as guns and ammunition can be melted down and turned into something useful.
