(11,767 posts)Democrats are typically diverse in their views, which has been the historic reason why we can be so difficult to organize. Many of us are more conservative in some aspects and more liberal on others. We do nuance, while Republicans as a party, do not.
It is our strength and weakness. But you are right. We need to focus on getting the best possible candidates into positions and moving forward from there. Today's Joe Manchin may be next cycle's Julian Castro, or Mark Pocan one day. Local issues are important. That is what brings people out to vote. What works for Lamb's district in Western Pennsylvania, would likely not work in my district in the Monterey Bay area of California.
The major difference between Democrats and Republicans is who government works for. Democrats want government to work for the average citizen. Republicans want government to protect the interests of the wealthiest people.
