(14,180 posts)the 'no draft ever again' position. But, based on my interactions with its adherents (many of whom were drafted, served noroably and were wounded), I would say it boils down the idea that killing people is such an awful thing that no one should ever be forced to do it against his or her will.
Pinboy (and other anti-draft vets), my apologies if I have fundamentally mis-stated your position on this. Since I've never seen combat, I feel like I owe it those who have to defer to their judgment somewhat, while agreeing with you on the principle of the thing. Does that make me a spineless, uncritical lemming? I would hope not, but I just have so much respect for the opinions of those who fought and suffered, as compared to my own opinions which have not been tested in the mettle of fire.
