His native Arizona, and five states of the hardcore Deep South: Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina—where white voters were enraged by Democratic civil rights legislation. This was the strongest showing in the South for a Republican candidate since Reconstruction.

Whenever a Repug, bagger, or Trumpist thumps their chest about “the Democrat Party” (sic) being the party of Southern racism, I trot out this FACT, even though they’re not interested in learning anything.
