5. 2A has nothing to do with the militia

May 2018

at least according to the law, custom, the Democratic party, President Obama and both Bernie and Hillary.

And even so, the 2A allows strict regulation of guns. Go read Heller. AWBs, UBCs, registration, licensing, training requirements, magazine size limits all perfectly legal and constitutional.

Gun control's problem is lack of broad and deep public support, not the 2A.

Well, the NRA's interpretation of Heller is not exactly correct. AWBs are fine under Heller, even Hoyt May 2018 #6
Heller is the only definition that matters hack89 May 2018 #8
Nope. Now, if we needed a green light for more gun control, it is quite helpful. Hoyt May 2018 #10
So what laws do you want that Heller prevents? hack89 May 2018 #12
AWB, severe restrictions on public toting, registration, psychological evaluations, Hoyt May 2018 #21
Heller allows all of those. hack89 May 2018 #28

He said reasonable gun restrictions are fine, if you pro-gunners want to be picky. Hoyt May 2018 #24
The law is a picky thing. The debate is about what is reasonable, effective, and needed. aikoaiko May 2018 #25
