(22,336 posts)Although I don't live someplace where Spanish is a common language and one time someone like this started ranting about something I was buying in the grocery store that had both English and Spanish written on it. He went on and on. "Why is this written in both English and Spanish?" "Uhm maybe so people who speak Spanish can read it." "Why don't they learn to speak English?" "It's a hard language to learn, and in the meantime they need to know how to use the stuff they're buying." It was a weird conversation. Nobody seems to get upset when things have both English and French written on them.
I've also had someone tell me that they don't understand why immigrants - even legal immigrants - should be able to get driver's licenses. "You complain because you think immigrants are using welfare, but then you don't want them to be able to drive so they can get jobs? How is that supposed to work?" People are so stupid.
