One thing that this star football player is doing is making funeral arrangements a lot easier on the families, preventing any economic hardship in planning for burials. That's one sort of story we won't see as a result.

We can hope that the player's stardom really does bring more attention to the matter at hand, whether or not that's enough to move any legislatures to action. What I haven't found, yet, is any follow-up by the football player on pushing elected representatives to help prevent future tragedies.

I don't suspect a sinister motive on his part. Sure, let's make it easier on the victims' families...but I also see the deed making it just the tiniest bit easier on the GOP.
