Roman Army officer, you know? The guy has a dearly beloved..."slave" is how it's usually translated. Well, the officer really loved this slave, who was very sick, and he asked Jesus to heal his beloved...slave. Jesus said he'd come right over. But the officer said Jesus didn't have to do that, because Jesus was so powerful that he could just "speak the word" where he was. Jesus was impressed, saying he'd never seen such faith before. And he didn't remark anything about these two guys living together and one who declares how much he loves the other one. Oh, and the word "slave" can also be translated as "young lover."
