In reply to the discussion: Are they getting ready to sack Joy Reid at MSNBC? [View all]JaneQPublic
(7,117 posts)Assuming she actually did write the stuff raising so much controversy today, let's keep a few things in mind:
1. In that same timeframe, Trump was giving big bucks to various Dems, including $20K to the DCCC, and $100K to the Clinton Foundation. People's politics can change "bigly" in 11 years.
2. Hillary started out as a "Goldwater Girl," but changed her politics.
3. In 2008, Obama said he didn't support gay marriage. He eventually came around.
4. Cenk Uygur (TYT) used to be a Clinton-hating Republican; now he's a Clinton-hating progressive.
5. I defy anyone to think back to 2007 and state truthfully that back then they held exactly the same views as now on the most rapidly evolving issues, such as marriage equality (back then only domestic partnerships), transgenders in the military, legalized recreational weed, and right to die.
6. Joy has presented zero evidence that she still holds ANY of the most controversial views from the blog.
The bottom line is that some right-wing group is targeting Joy as payback for the very successful boycotts we left-wingers have staged against Laura Ingraham and others. So, to use the current cliches, it's all just a big nothing-burger, and there's no there there.
