(53,308 posts)so in 2007 she turned 39. So let's call her 38 years old. Hillary turned 17 in October of 1964 so she was 16 for most of the year. In 11 states I would be arrested for having sex with a willing 16 year old, the number of states in which that would be true of a 38 year old, 0. In 0 states can a 16 year old vote, drink, enlist in the military, enter into a contract, sign themselves out of school. In all 50, 38 year old people can vote, drink, enlist in the military (unless they are too old I honestly don't know), and enter into contracts. In many states at least some 16 year old people get tried as juveniles no 38 year old people are tried as juveniles (except for crimes they committed as juveniles). In short, the law treats 16 year old people way differently than 38 year old people. It does this for a reason.
Also there is a huge difference between how these two women reacted. Hillary wrote about this in her autobiography. Joy Reid made up a bullshit story. Joy Reid made up her bullshit story at age 49. Now maybe you are in favor of trying all 16 year olds as adults. I am not. I am in favor of trying all 38 year olds as adults. I think different people should be treated differently.
Now since you decided to be nasty and make it personal (in all caps I might add) I was an practicing alcoholic until April 9, 2000 at which time I was 32 years old. Now am I the same person now I was then, no. But part of the reason I am not is that I don't tell people bullshit stories to avoid consequences for actions I did, even while I was drunk. So yes, you got me. I was a shitty person in my 20's and early 30's. Congrats. I am sure it made your day. But at least I am not such a shitty person that I posted the nasty post you did just a few minutes ago.
