16. Playing to the Republican (not "Trump") base for decades

Play the poor, oppressed victim, blame everyone else, admit no wrongdoing, play to prejudices of his target audience, etc.

The Trump playbook? Nope. D'Sousa (and bags and bags of other conservatives) has been doing this since he was a college kid at Dartmouth. Writing for the Dartmouth Review, one of a number of National Review-related publications to act as a conservative pundit/writer farm team.

He's been this way his whole career, as have others once hailed as "the new young conservatives" like Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter.

Always remember that self-proclaimed NeverTrumpers have spent decades using the same tactics as Trump and tirelessly building a voter base that he is now drag-racing on. They're only pissed because they built it for them to drag-race on.
