Blumenthal received at least five draft deferments during the Vietnam War before enlisting. He served in United States Marine Corps Reserve units in Washington, D.C., and Connecticut from 1970 to 1976.
He attained the rank of sergeant and received an honorable discharge at the end of his enlistment.
During his 2010 Senate campaign, news reports that Blumenthal had lied about his military service by indicating that he'd served "in Vietnam" during the war created a controversy.
Blumenthal denied that he had intentionally lied and apologized for remarks he said had not been "clear or precise" about his Vietnam service.

I hear what you are saying about him as a candidate - but consider who he'd be running against from the Repugs if Trump doesn't suffer any consequences from the Mueller Investigation.

Trump never served in the military. And he is a pathological liar. I think I'd take my chances running Blumenthal against him.
