Whenever Ive even traveled to another country, much less lived in one - Ive made every effort to learn the language.
If an American complained that no one in their adopted country spoke English, theyd be vilified, and rightly so.

My great grandparents, despite living in the US for decades, never learned English.

It is too difficult for me to learn any language then but when it comes to Spanish
