. . . but your response to strikes me as something of a non sequitur. You don't perceive a distinction between "criticizing" an elected official and confronting them while he or she is out in public, eating dinner or whatnot, and seeking to make his or her life a "living hell"?

I suppose the question I would pose to the OP (and to you, I guess) is what are we trying to accomplish? To effectuate political change for the better, or to vent out spleens and make ourselves feel better? If our actions are ultimately directed at the latter, that strikes me as selfish, immature, and, as I said, unproductive.
