(33,688 posts)given that her parents are two exceedingly bright people. But let me assure you that connections are at least as important, and often moreso, in the elite. I was a summa graduate of the U of MN and attended Harvard Law School with the FLOTUS. I have been unemployed and underemployed for most of the last 25 years - once I made $60K annualy for a 20 month period - my best ever stretch - and now work for a subsistence level wage and have to file bankruptcy. Why, you ask?
Two reasons - I am a product of the working class with zero connections or influence and I am Asperger's. I've seen people with a fraction of my abilities fly up the ladder because they were connected and highly social. Truth is what it is and Chelsea Clinton had every advantage anyone can possibly have to go along with her own native gifts. That makes a HUGE difference in how your life turns out. Denying that is just willful blindness.
