In reply to the discussion: Tucker Carlson is a racist a*hole, but this is just wrong [View all]David__77
(23,369 posts)I was, and am, gay. There were some other students who didn't like that, and who threatened me with physical harm. Some female students who I didn't even know vandalized businesses of the parents of those students who threatened me.
Also, I did know "antifa" of that time - anti-racist skinheads and other anti-racist activists. They offered to defend me physically, if needed. They were prepared to put themselves on the line - I appreciated that.
One of the students who threatened me soon thereafter approached me. While I don't recall exactly what he said to me, he said something to the effect that he didn't want to be associated with the threats that were made against me.
To the extent that the cost of being openly racist and fascist can be raised very high, fewer people will do it. I'm not advocating for what those activists did outside Tucker Carlson's home. I'm saying that some people will choose their privacy and home over being an asshole.
