After Bernie Lost the Nomination To Hillary Clinton in 2016, Bernie RETURNED back to Independent Status.
Bernie Sits in the U.S. Senate as a INDEPENDENT today.
Bernie would have to fall-in-line with the NEW DNC RULES (linked above at least twice) and declare before announcing any candidacy for President in 2020 he would abide by each of these rules, including releasing his Taxes.
If this all of this is not done, Bernie remains a INDEPENDENT and cannot run for the Democratic Presidential Primary Nomination.
Lastly, there are PLENTY of potential Democratic Candidates who have since being Elected to Public Office, have never left the Democratic Party to become an "Independent" after losing -- and then seek to come back Democratic Party just to run for President of the United States.
It is important to break down the FACTS as they now exist.
