96. Seven years ago I had the same surgery. He should be fine.

Recovery will be slow. If he has the valve replaced with an artificial valve he will in all likelihood need to be on blood thinner for the rest of his life. He will have to have monthly finger stick blood test. 20 mins tops. To check his INR.
