limitations had run decades before Professor Ford first came forward. So there was no way for either of them to file charges.

On the other hand, the statute of limitations hasn't yet run for Dr. Tyson and she can still press charges against Fairfax. If she's willing to come forward and issue a statement, why not press charges with the State of Massachusetts and let the police conduct an investigation? It's odd that she didn't do that before going to the Washington Post with her story, but she may have had her reasons. But what's stopping her from doing it now?
