Brown’s Midwest bona fides could extend to other Midwestern (post-) industrial states such as Michigan and Wisconsin, and beyond—and that’s where we “lost” last time.

I’m not assuming that anti-Trump sentiment and its counter-policy correlates will be enough to overcome the bizarre electoral barriers that exist. We can’t just win the popular vote (alas). And I worry somewhat about a “coastal elites” factor.

On the other hand, will Brown be able to reawaken the minority vote that lagged somewhat in the last election?

As far as I see it, you’ve either got to get the working class vote or a mega-minority vote to win this thing. Preferably both. That means that right now, there are three candidates I’m looking at closely. Brown is definitely one of those.

Fearing loss of his Senate seat in Ohio is not a compelling reason to discount him.
