(2,715 posts)My daughter in law gets time off whenever school is out. Now mind you, she doesnt get paid as much as a full time worker. But when the school day ends, she goes home. If schools are out for a week, shes off. When her son gets older she can switch to full time. It amazes me. Ive only been in England for 2 years and Im continuously surprised.
2 weeks ago, my husband injured his back and couldnt drive himself to the doctor. My vision is too weak for driving. We called his doctor, who at the end of his workday, made a housecall. He checked my husband, wrote two prescriptions, which I filled at the pharmacy two blocks away. Not our regular pharmacy but I explained the situation, had the medication in hand in 5 minutes. Cost was zero.
