The Repubs are attacking the one(s) they don't want in the race. That's Beto at this time.

3. Honestly Beto is one of my least favorites, but I think probably is a big threat....

...as someone who pays close attention to policy and substance, I think Beto is sorely lacking. As someone who is decidedly left of center, I think Beto is probably the candidate who is least in tune with my own needs and desires in a candidate.

That being said, most voters are surface, low information types and are susceptible to style over substance. Those same folks are just fine with general platitudes and a photogenic look and pleasant demeanor and I think Beto fits that category as a safe, youngish, white dude who doesn't scare them by speaking about any scary, difficult subjects that they might be scared of with Republican talking points about those same subjects.
