(8,200 posts)It has appeared to me that the Democrats have tolerated far too much lack of cooperation on the entire spectrum of governance by the Republicans. The Republicans have become the obstructionist party as was especially demonstrated during President Obama's presidency. They have abused certain aspects of government that were put in place for extremely important situations. Such as blocking nominations as in the case of the Supreme Court, shutting down government and numerous other bills solely for political leverage while sacrificing the welfare of the nation.
The powers that were invested in the presidency and the various agencies, such as within the Department of Justice, were granted to protect the citizens. Rather than protecting they are being abused to prevent complete transparency that is the hallmark of a democratic government and not an authoritarian dictatorship. This not a new development, but one that has steadily intensifying dating from the criminal Nixon presidency. Each successive Republican presidency has seen gross abuses of power and lack of cooperation by Republican dominated congresses that allowed us even to be taken to war on absolute falsely generated evidence.
Yes, I agree with your concern and I too believe that it has been allowed to develop to the point that threatens to the very foundation of the ideals upon which our government was founded. The citizens have a right and duty to demand complete and total honesty and not subterfuge that are solely political.
