and you're right, the letter would either be ignored or you'd get a form letter. carter was actually quite good about really responding to letter post-presidency, my younger brother even got an interview for his high school newspaper out of one such letter. but i don't think other presidents are into that.

personally, i would strongly discourage mini-unblock from doing that sort of thing. the worst case scenario is shrub responds with an autographed picture, and NO WAY that's getting any wall space in my house!
