Say 1950. Corruption was a given. An absolute given, that if you had money and/or friends, you had no problem with the authorities on any level.

The very concept of civil rights was "fringe". You could beat your wife and kids, you could drive drunk, and beating up gay guys was commendable. And a cop shooting a black guy? Hell, you didn't need to be a cop to walk away from that charge.

Still a long ways to go, I know. Lots of setbacks and atrocities. But at least now people NOTICE atrocities and injustice.


We have to keep on working, together. They have the money, the microphones, and, often, the cover of law. We have people, the good people, who won't rest until things are put right.
