(150,503 posts)Otherwise, nothing gets done. Newly-elected progressives really do have to realize that not everyone is as "progressive" as they believe themselves to be.
We now have a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives. If all of those Democrats get along, we'll be able to do great things. If there is constant bickering over details, we won't. It's really that simple.
The new wave of progressives are a small minority in the Democratic Caucus. They aren't always going to get their way. Now, they represent districts that support their viewpoint to some degree, but not everyone in their districts feels the same way they do on every issue. Ignoring that, and ignoring the majority of the Democratic Caucus isn't going to be very productive.
There are more effective ways to put a progressive platform forward. I'd suggest that our newly-elected representatives look into some of those ways. There is another election coming up next November, and everyone will be running for re-election, including AOC and those who align with her closely.
