(32,640 posts)I also have observed that her characterizing herself as a "former barkeeper" (which was a second job, as well having a degree from Boston University and a job at a non-profit in advocacy) is convenient when it serves the "I'm one of the working class" narrative, but gets her very testy when any GOP troll on twitter uses that same characterization and dismisses her as "just a former bartender."
She states that she gives "zero F*cks" about what people say about her challenging and criticizing senior Democrats, and holds a protest outside leadership's office the very first day in office to publicly assert her disapproval over her anticipation that leadership would disappoint her on climate change (drawing not retribution from said leadership, but rather a tweet crediting her and younger leadership with the reinstatement of the select committee on climate, andan offer to be on the newly formed congressional committee on climate change - which AOC turned down)....
but the minute one of those senior Democrats merely rolls their eyes at the idea that a large twitter following is = to more influence while voting for legislation, AOC fumes and takes to twitter in outrage that someone could be so DISRESPECTFUL!
She wants influence, but when assigned to committees, which is how one get more influence, she claims she's just being given busy work as though that's not part of being a congresswoman
She wants to stand out, but at the same time gets very indignant at even the perception that she might be being singled out.
