10. Obrador does not have a choice.

Mexico is a seriously weak country economically. The national oil company is deep in debt, so it can't contribute to state finances, in fact, it is now a drain on state finances.

Past Presidents of Mexico, including Viscente Fox, whom many on DU admire, allowed plundering of the country by the elites. Those presidents did little to nothing to improve the deplorable lot of indigenous Mexicans, who make up pretty much all of Mexican undocumented immigration into the US. White skinned Mexicans are doing and always have done well in that country and have little need to leave, they are the class that Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world, come from.

So Obrador has an empty pantry to work with. Trump can successfully bully him.
