(7,604 posts)with an anecdotal (this neighbor, that farmer, my barber, etc) and then generalizes to a global conclusion is a failure from the get-go. NO ONE should be listening to that kind of tripe. Yeah, yeah, that seems to be the script in the MSM, but it's lazy and inaccurate. If an anecdotal is used as an example of how a peer-reviewed demographic study plays out, that's of higher quality and may help a reader visualize the current zeitgeist that can be gleaned from a study. Sadly, a lot of "left-leaning" articles begin and end with anecdotals that do not reflect much about anything.
kozar, I can understand how you feel a kind of parochial pride in your state's traditions and your farmers' way of thinking. But it's not so unique, I have to say. It's just common sense when the passion of political dreams and hopes are, at times, necessarily stripped away. Trumpy put your friends and farmers on welfare by messing with international trade agreements. They should be pissed. Any farmer who relents to being dependent on federal handouts when they have the means to produce their own wealth ought to be fuming pissed.
