There are plenty of artists I dislike but that doesnt apply to their art. I understand that what I call true art is something that stands on its own, completely divorced from the person who created it. Thats why its true art. One example is Mel Gibsons last movie, long after society and he parted ways, is an excellent work of art. The movie is Apocalypto and is about the Maya people just before the Spanish arrived. I recommend it as a stunning visual work of art. He filmed it in the jungles of Yucatán with Mayan descendants.
