Last year, to promote his film with gay and gay friendly artists, he hit the press claiming he was a libertarian because the GOP had 'lost it's way' and he attacked the Republicans for bullshit policy and religious crap 'bullshit and crap' are Clint's words. So lots of hot air painting himself as different from the people and policies he endorsed so fully at their convention. Say one thing, mean another is the single defining feature of Republicans, and in that respect Clint is perfectly Republican. Last year he was pretending to oppose their religious dogma shaped policy, this year he volunteered to be the face of that anti gay, anti woman dogma. He calls it bullshit, and he's all for it!
