The right, just like global dictators, have figured out how to exploit Trump's narcissism. So Trump might make it about California not voting for him. But the oil company libertarian, billionaire American oligarch bought and paid for propaganda media and elected officials are being much more strategic.

They recognize that California maintaining high emission standards will hurt their plans for more carbon profits. Because as California goes, so goes much of the rest of the country.

Its a strategic power play.
