14. I'm always trying to see the silver lining

in bad situations and I believe that Trump could be an odd blessing in disguise. His disastrous presidency might be the only way we will be able to rid the government of the toxic republicans who helped create this monster. The behavior of the majority of republicans in congress and their loyalty to a corrupt president could hopefully destroy their careers, as well as end republican control of DC for many years to come. It may even end the party.

I can't help but wonder what could have been accomplished in the Obama years, if it wasn't for the republican obstructionists in congress, many who now have attached themselves to a criminal president. It appears that they may have overplayed their hand and now will pay the price. Now the world knows what we've known for long time, that as you say, their loyalty is to money and power, not the Constitution.

I do disagree with one point, however. Trump should not leave office horizontally. He needs to be held accountable while he is still alive and relatively conscious and if his presidency should end by death, not impeachment or at the ballot box, he could become a martyr. We know how republicans like to rewrite history to make their leaders look like saints. Their version of Ronald Reagan barely matches reality.

So hopefully when Trump leaves, he will take a shitload of trash with him!
