(14,682 posts)I still think there is a place to discuss if we should engage in something, like ridiculing Graham's futile attempt to hold the closet door shut, when it hurts both sides in one way or another. But if it hurts them more, is it worth it? I don't know. I suspect there'd be a wide array of opinion on that in our community.
ie. When say someone like Bill Maher might make some inference, even an eyebrow rise, in reference to Graham, and the liberal audience laughs....we all know that those in the audience are not laughing at gay people for being gay. Even those that are gay know this. They are obviously laughing at how ridiculously futile Graham looks at times in pretending he's not. That's comedy gold.
And that in itself wouldn't be funny, in a black humour way, if it weren't for Graham being a senior player in the party that has increasingly been hostile to the gay community. And laughing at that kind of hypocrisy is cathartic in a way.
