...the most draconian anti-abortion laws at the time of Roe vs Wade simply left them on the books.

They didn't enforce these laws because Roe overruled them -- but Roe didn't erase them. Now there are a whole slew of even worse laws on the books, testing the boundaries, forcing their way up the chain of courts until they can get a SCOTUS hearing.

We "should" do a lot of things. But we have not.
