The timing is beginning to come together. Sadly, I have no insights into what other people know or are about to reveal. I do know that we are in the fourth year of Trump's term in office, and there is a solid, dedicated, effort to make certain he goes no further in that office.
I still believe that Trump will eventually decide to resign and collect his pardon from Pence. Somewhere there is a tipping point that will be reached in the next few months that leads him to fear what happens after he leaves office. At that point, he will decide to protect his own ass and damn the rest, I think. That's what happens when time runs out on people like Trump.
Some mention the state charges against him as a reason for him not to do that, but they are minor in comparison to what the federal charges might be. When it becomes clear that he will be prosecuted after he leaves the White House by the next administration, he will play his pardon card, which he keeps in his back pocket, ready to deploy.
That's what I think will happen. Frankly, I hope it's sooner, rather than later. Tomorrow would be good, but anytime in the next few months would suffice. A pardon is Trump's key to staying free.
