23. Balk. Somehow it's always "playing into Trump's hands"...

...when we note the people who paved the way for Trump only did something worthy of a "participation" trophy in the "did the right thing in at least a half-assed kind of way" contest. Yes, I'm glad he showed up -- there are almost no Republican takers for those trophies these days -- but don't complain when I point out what it's actually for.

I'm fine with giving Mitt his kudos and saying how brave he was if every time we do that we use the opportunity to hammer home the sort of Stage-5 Degeneracy the Republicans have put themselves in for what Mitt did to count as "heroic". It wouldn't be a "profile in courage" if craven cowardice had not become the gold standard of acceptable behavior for his entire f***ing party.
