(894 posts)I Met the man once.
He was visiting my hometown and stopped at the Restaurant that my Mom owned.
Now, I'm not from the richest part of the state of MA. Fall River tends to collect Boston's poorer population seeing as how we have cheaper housing and a bus line that goes into the city. So, my Mom's place was simple, honest food, at decent prices. A little place called Maxwells on S. Main Street, near the Government Center.
Anyway, My mom had never felt so small as when Mitt stopped by for a visit. He was polite, but you could see on his face that he found the place distasteful. He smiled for the local cameras, but the smile ended as soon as the cameras stopped. It was almost as if he didn't want to be there, didn't want to touch anything. Gave us a few words about small business being the backbone of the city, and took off.
Me, I was washing dishes in the back while I was going through college. Stuck my head out and watched the spectacle.
What struck me was he made my mom feel as if her place was dirty. My mom broke her back keeping things spotless, and this really hurt her.
Mitt will NEVER get my vote. To me it's a personal thing. I don't like the man. Now I really don't like his policies.
