(3,131 posts)I normally subscribe to the you should always taste some but dont have to finish philosophy. Thats what I was taught and what Ive told my kids. All of us are open to trying new and seemingly weird foods as a result.
There are a couple of things like Uni that Ill avoid tasting if I can. I can manage a taste without wanting to hurl but Ive never acquired the taste for it. That never has been an issue because others are happy theres more for them.
If my guts are bad Im struggling just to show up and participate. Ive learned to be very self protective and not even taste and spit out. That does get awkward particularly in cultures where refusing is not polite. The explanation isnt considered enough. Fortunately I dont travel for work much anymore.
Of course none of that applies to trump. I dont really disagree with what you wrote, Im just giving some extra context
