It would be nice if Mitt's gaming of the primaries had taught them a little empathy and understanding of what it means to be disenfranchised, but it didn't. It would be nice if they could look around for a second and realize that all of the political authorities they now trust are deliberately deceiving them, and they (and we) are all so much the worse off for it. That they're not just getting ripped off this time, but that they've been ripped off every time a Republican has slithered his way in and poisoned our futures, going waaaaay back.
But they won't.
Those poor people live in fear and they do not realize that the political figures they trust are the same people who seek to make the world frightening and control how they vote. It is tragic, it is amoral, and it has lowered the quality of all of our lives, regardless of party, except for a statistically insignificant number of fabulously rich people who have made off with everything we had.
It is shameful that we allow this to happen, but I don't know how to stop it.
