There's a ton of drivers out there who normally haul things like steel, glass, other stuff.. stuff not essential to daily living. Car plants have shut down, thus they don't need parts. Parts manufacturers don't need raw materials... Steel plants have no customers .. that whole supply chain is shutting down. Dock workers and factory line employees are being sent home. Drivers will be idled and maybe sent home too. The drivers would be happy enough to swap their flatbeds for dry vans and reefers and help out.
