trying to "reopen" the economy by easter is a good example. that would have only caused the whole problem to last longer, cheating themselves out of long-term profit for the sake of a (futile) shot at shot-term profit.

more typically, they refuse to ever consider a higher tax rate, even if the government spends that revenue on making the economy boom, making more money for rich people even given the slightly higher tax rate.


but then, republicans are particularly warped about taxes. my mother used to do financial planning, and sometimes she'd have republicans come in and ask her to make things so the government got nothing. she said, wouldn't you rather have more money left over after taxes? they'd say no, i don't care if i have less money, as long as the government doesn't get any of it! idiotic, really.
